Priming the engine block for paint

The engine block has now been cleaned and all the mucky old oil removed from the outside.
For this I used a well known engine cleaner that you brush on and leave to penetrate into the oil and then wash off with water.

The block masked up and rubbed down ready to be primed.

I used a etch primer first of all on the block which has a good adhesion to bare metal surfaces. I applied two coats of primer as this will make a good base for the top coat of paint. All that has to be done now when it is dry is a flick over with some 800 wet & dry rubbing down paper and the dust blow off and its ready for the colour.
