Bottom End Rebuild

I had the day off work to get a head start with the rebuild of the botton end of the engine.
Ian had got hold of the gaskets for a good price, so all I had to do was fit it all back together.

Timing covers refitted with new oil seals.

Water pump, water pump pulley and auxiliary shaft pulley fitted.

Oil pick up pipe bolted back in place.

The new sump gasket in place on the block. This is made up from four parts, the two cork sides and two rubber seal ends, one fitting into the timing cover and the other into the rear main bearing cap.

The cork gasket is smeared in LM grease this will hold the gasket in place when the sump is offered up to the block.

The sump bolted to the block, this is done in a progressive manner to the specified torque setting in three stages.

Fuel pump refitted back on, but first you have to remember not to forget to refit the push rod that operates the pump.

The fully rebuilt bottom end ready for the head to go back on, but theres a long way to go before that can go on,
